We recommend having your wood delivered between May and July to allow your firewood additional time to season.
All our hardwood firewood can be a mix of maple, beech, ash, birch and possibly oak. If mixed softwood/ hardwood is requested we can mix in poplar or spruce and fir .
A cord of firewood is the standard measurement used to break down how much wood you will be receiving in the firewood industry. A standard cord measures out as 4ft by 4ft by 8ft for 128 cubic feet of firewood when stacked.
Yes we do but the costs will be higher than ordering in the Spring/Summer/early Fall season due the additional operation costs.
Depending on the size of your house and your other heat sources the amount will vary. For example a typical 1200sq/ft house using wood as the main heat source will burn 3 - 4 cords.
Dry firewood has a moisture of 20% or less.
The amount of time it takes to season firewood is dependent on a number of factors, but a good rule of thumb is to plan for at least 6-8 months to season your firewood if you are buying green wood, 4-6 months if you are buying 3-4 month harvested hardwood and roughly 1 or 2 months if you are buying the 8-12 month harvested hardwood.
Drying times will be longer in the late Fall to early Spring.
Harvested firewood means the wood has been cut and left in 8ft lengths or greater to dry.
Seasoned firewood means the wood has been cut and split and left to dry for at least 6 months.
